Chad Hoover, AIA

Principal

Chad Hoover received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Cooper Union and a Master of Science degree from Cornell University, College of Architecture Art and Planning. He has been involved in the practice of Architecture for over 20 years. While a resident of Ithaca, he has been very active as a professional and as a volunteer in historic preservation, neighborhood planning and affordable housing issues.

Prior to re-establishing his own firm, he served as a project architect and project manager in Cornell University’s department of Planning, Design and Construction for seven years. Before working at Cornell, Hoover had his own practice in Ithaca and focused primarily on residential design and affordable housing.

His professional interests include historic preservation, adaptive use, contextual building design and site planning. During his years at Cornell, he was involved in numerous office and laboratory renovations and served as a project architect for the university’s program to remove barriers to people with disabilities, in conformance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Hoover’s volunteer community service includes almost 15 years of Board membership of Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services and six years of Board membership of Historic Ithaca, three of those years he also served as Board President. He currently serves on Ithaca’s Northside Neighborhood Steering Committee, a neighborhood-based participatory planning initiative. All of these activities have strengthened his ability to communicate effectively with volunteer boards and committees and lead discussions when required.
